Walt Disney World in February

February can be a fantastic month to visit the Walt Disney World Resort.  Aside from the President’s Week hullaballoo, (resort prices rise to Peak Season that week), crowds are low and resort pricing is at either Value or Regular Season.  Weather in February is similar to that in January and while we do see occasional 80-degree days, dressing in layers is still a must for the cooler mornings and evenings when the average lows are around 50°. Crowd Levels & {Read More}

Walt Disney World in January

Coming off the very busy holiday season, the Walt Disney World Resort in January boasts low crowds and prices and comfortable theme park touring temperatures.  And while it may not be ideal water park weather, shorter lines and great Walt Disney World package deals are an excellent trade-off. Crowd Levels & Special Events Aside from that first week in January at the tail-end of the holiday season, January enjoys relatively low crowds throughout the month.  The Walt Disney World Marathon {Read More}

Showing our Disney Side-a Musical Review

This past September, Disney launched a new campaign called, “Show Your Disney Side,” which encourages people to bust out the magic of Disney each and every day.  If you take a look at the motto of this site, Seeking and Sharing the Magic of the Mouse Everyday, you’ll see that this is what we’re all about here! On November 12th, Disney Music and Walt Disney Records will be releasing a brand new cd box-set titled Disney Classics featuring 94 magical {Read More}

A Quiet Sunday Morning Moment

Came down this morning to find this.

Thrifting My Way to Type-A

I don’t know about all of you, but since my kids were born and I’ve been living in the style of Meg Wolitzer’s protagonist in the 10 Year Nap, I have nothing to wear besides jeans (mostly with holes in the knees), several Mickey Mouse t-shirts and a pair of red, Converse sneakers.  Okay, I’m exaggerating.  But only a little bit.  So when I started going to social-media conferences during the past year or so, I found myself at a {Read More}

Eating the Elephant–5 Lessons from Type-A Parent Con

Last weekend I headed to Atlanta for my first ever Type-A Parent Conference.  I had known that I wanted to go to one of the bigger social media conferences out there and heard that Type-A was one of the best.  I bought my ticket shortly after they went on sale, hoping that I’d actually end up going and knowing that I had to start preparing my pitch for my husband.  Making the choice to attend Type-A was a big deal {Read More}

Vera Bradley’s Fall Collection Glows with Gorgeous Colors & Prints

As you may have gleaned from some of my other recent posts, I just returned from the Type-A Parent Conference in Atlanta.  After outfitting myself for the conference with some truly fabulous thrifted items from my friend Tanya’s stash, I realized that I couldn’t possibly head to yet another conference schelpping my laptop, notebook, iphone, business cards, and all of the other necessary accoutrements of a social media conference in my old, beat-up Vercesi hardware bag.  As most of us {Read More}

Good Boy, Schnoggy

When I first got him I named him Viva, after a friend of a friend who was the bartender at Arturo’s on Thompson and Houston in the city.  He was only a few weeks old when I adopted him from the daughter of the other bartender at Arturo’s.  He was small and black and skittish and Chester, the big cat, ate his food. When Jon came onto the scene only a few months after Viva arrived, he took him under {Read More}

The Mom-Work Balancing Act

I’ve been thinking for a long time about what I call “feathering my empty nest” even though with three girls ages 11, 9, & 7 my nest is far from empty.  Still, it will be empty in the not-so-far-off future and I don’t want to be shucking and jiving professionally when that day comes. I’m a teacher by trade, with a Master’s degree in secondary education from NYU, and I taught in the New York City public school system for {Read More}

Gary and the Pixie Dust!

Sounds like a great name for a band, doesn’t it?  If such a band existed, Gary Buchanan, the Social Media Managing Editor and PR Manager for Disney Parks, would be the front man without a doubt! Brimming with enthusiasm and exuding Disney magic from his every pore, Gary is the energetic ringmaster of the Disney Social Media Moms on the Road conference series landing in four cities across the country throughout the month of June.  I was fortunate enough to {Read More}
